Major Roland Pillinger

A Tenth Royal Hussar, who joined the Regiment in 1879, and retired, time expired, in May 1913, and served throughout the Great War in the Middle East. The site includes hundreds of his photographs, his detailed account of the Coronation Durbar of 1911, as well as his service in the Sudan, 1884, the Boar War, 1899 – 1902, and in India and the United Kingdom. There is also included a vast amount of day to day information about the Regiment whilst Major Pillinger served.

Rising from the ranks to become a Major, he wrote, in 1916 “The Army is my life”
